Poets and Writers,
I added a couple of events below: Carter Taylor Seaton, a WV writer, will be at Shepherd U on Wed 1 Nov with her book. Also, 15 November is the deadline for submissions to Shepherd's Appalachian Anthology.
I attended the Boliver-Harpers Ferry book signing on 28 October and met and conversed with the full group of writers promoting their latest books.
Saturday 28th - 11 AM to 1 PM
Boliver-Harpers Ferry Library (151 Polk Street, HF) is hosting a Local Authors Book Fair. Books from 12 authors will be available for purchase and signing. Participating authors: Bo Bolyard, Ann Fern, Michelle Files, Ed Maliskas, Ginny Fite, Katherine Cobb, Leslie Carter, Erin Mackay, Lauren Carr, Brenda Grove, Elizabeth Watson and Cynthia Gayton.
Wednesday 1st - 7-9 PM
Carter Taylor Seaton will be at Shepherd U (Robert C. Byrd Center) to discuss and sign her book, The Rebel in the Red Jeep: Ken Hechler's Life in West Virginia Politics. Hechler worked for Harry S. Truman, was a WV Secretary of State, and was a primary architect for the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety Act of 1969. He campaigned across WV in his red jeep.
Saturday 4th - 10 AM - 5 PM
"Fall for Writing" Conference at Tamarack in Beckley (sign up at wvwriters.org) - $40 for students. Eight workshops.
Sunday 5th - 6-8 PM
The First Sunday poetry reading at the home of John Tuohy and Mary Smith in Shepherdstown (309 Tinsley Circle). See Tim Ross's separate emails for this event.

Submissions: To submit before the November 15 deadline any original, unpublished work of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, memoir, or essay for consideration by the editors for the Anthology of Appalachian Writers, Wiley Cash Volume X, send an electronic copy, along with the information below, to Dr. Sylvia Bailey Shurbutt, sshurbut@shepherd.
edu. All prose submissions must be double spaced, Garamond font, with no page numbers or identifying headers.
Poet Laureate Marc Harshman and Anna Smucker will read from their co-authored work at Four Seasons Books (time TBD). Marc is also scheduled to read at Shepherd U (Reynolds Hall at 7:30 PM Tuesday 14th) in the Speak Story Series.
